Faith N. Adobamen

Dr Faith Adobamen B.Sc (Hons), PGCert HE, FHEA, MSc, PhD

Senior Lecturer, International Business

Dr Faith Adobamen is a Senior Lecturer in International Business and Programme Leader for the MBA International Business at the Executive Business Centre, 亚色影库 Business School. She also serves as Deputy Chair of the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Staff Network, where she contributes to initiatives that advance inclusion, equity, and representation across the university.

In her academic role, Dr Adobamen leads postgraduate programmes and supports students in developing advanced knowledge and practical skills essential for success in today’s global business environment. She has also contributed to the School’s Quality Assurance processes, ensuring academic excellence and continuous enhancement of teaching and learning practices.

Prior to joining the 亚色影库, she worked with the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) in the Africa Corporate Governance Advisory Program, where she supported corporate governance initiatives for companies, regulators, and market intermediaries across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Her research focuses on the impact of research and development (R&D) on productivity, with broader interests in growth economics, innovation, and sustainable development. She employs advanced econometric methods and large-scale datasets, producing work that combines academic rigour with policy-relevant insights to inform debates on productivity and competitiveness.

Dr Adobamen completed her PhD in Economics at the 亚色影库 as a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship recipient. Her doctoral thesis, The Effects of R&D on Regional Productivity in the UK: Comparative Evidence on Business R&D, Government R&D, and Higher Education Research, examined the productivity effects of different R&D sectors across UK regions. She also holds an MSc in Business and Financial Economics (Distinction), a PGCert in Higher Education, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Her first degree was a BSc in Economics from Lagos State University.

Her teaching experience spans undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, including PhD supervision, within the Department of International Business and Economics.

Responsibilities within the university

  • Programme Leader – Faith is the Programme Lead in the Executive Business Centre’s MBA/International Business.
  • Module Leader – International Economics and Innovation and International Business Project.
  • Quality Assurance Co-Lead – Executive Business Centre
  • EBC Programme Session Coordinator – Programme session(s) MA & MBA/IB students
  • Placement and Personal Tutor – Faith Tutors’ MBA/IB students in professional practice, which supports learning during internship.

  • Social Impact Leadership Award at the G-SEL Conference, House of Lords, UK - 2024.
  • Awarded Vice Chancellor Scholarship for PhD by the 亚色影库 in 2018.

Research / Scholarly interests

Faith’s research interest is specifically on the Effect of R&D on Productivity. She is interested in Growth Economics, which is important for improving the wellbeing of societies. Faith is also interested in the determinants of Regional and Firm-level Productivity, as an important contributor to economic growth. Her empirical research involves the use of panel datasets – hence, she is interested in Applied Panel Data Econometrics Methods.
